Maciej Woltman became fascinated by Polish art poster already in high school and the Polish School of Posters plyed a major role in shaping his style as a graphic artist, it also remained important for his painting. He obtained his diploma in the field of poster and book illustration in the studio of prof. Waldemar Świerzy.

 

In the 1980s, the art and film poster constituted a large part of Maciej Woltman's work. In 1986 he was awarded a prize in Hollywood for the movie poster  "Te Ballad of Narayama".
