Over the years, nudes have become something of an informal trademark of Maciej Woltman's art. The central figure in the artwork, most often a woman, has always been a constant presence in the artist's work, serving as a dominant theme. The few male figures that occasionally appear in his paintings usually serve as mere background or context for the female figure. As he himself puts it, "I like the form of the female silhouette... it naturally draws me to draw. The line is intricate, winding, and free..." Here, too, the artist does not faithfully replicate or depict reality but rather draws upon images from his imagination. The intensely or delicately colored figure is sometimes painted with bold strokes, while at other times, it emerges solely through the interplay of light and shadow. Whether poster-like or varied, it is always sensual.
